These special, two-day JUMP Math workshops are
designed to give participants a deeper understanding of how to teach math
effectively and how to apply the JUMP Math teaching strategies. JUMP Math is a
method and philosophy that intends to eradicate math anxiety and encourage
students to reach their potential in understanding mathematics. JUMP materials
have been written to match the CCSS
In these professional development sessions, Liz
Barrett will talk about how JUMP Math's carefully designed instruction and
resources support recent discoveries in cognitive science.
She will present a number of proven methods that
teachers can use to engage all of their students in learning mathematics.
Each 2014 JUMP Math Summer Institute will provide
participants with:

A strong foundation in the JUMP Math approach to
teaching and learning mathematics from Grades 1 to 8
·
Strategies to develop Mental Math fluency
·
A deeper understanding of techniques to develop
strong problem-solving skills
·
Strategies aimed at developing enrichment units for
extension sessions
·
Knowledge about the emerging evidence on the
effectiveness of JUMP Math
·
Comprehensive resources to support the delivery of
JUMP Math.
